GCstar est une application libre et gratuite pour gérer vos collections. Les informations associées à chaque élément peuvent être récupérées automatiquement depuis Internet. Et vous pouvez aussi leur associer d'autres informations comme l'endroit où il se trouve ou à qui il a été prêté. Vous pouvez aussi faire des recherches dans vos collections selon différents critères.

GCstar est diffusé selon les terme de la GNU General Public License. Il peut être utilisé avec tout système d'exploitation pour lequel gtk2-perl a été porté. Il a été principalement testé sous GNU/Linux (système utilisé pour son développement) mais aussi sur des sytèmes Microsoft Windows.

Version actuelle

La dernière version est la 1.4.3. Une liste de diffusion permet d'être informé dès qu'une nouvelle version est disponible. Vous pouvez vous y inscrire à partir de la page d'information sur la liste de diffusion GCstar-release.

GCstar 1.4.3 gère les collections suivantes :

Cette version est aussi partiellement ou totalement traduite dans les langues suivante : Allemand, Anglais, Arabe, Bulgare, Catalan, Espagnol, Français, Galicien, Grec, Hongrois, Indonésien, Italien, Néerlandais, Polonais, Portugais, Roumain, Russe, Serbian, Swedish, Tchèque, Turkish, Ukrainien.

Pour savoir comment ajouter de nouvelles langues ou compléter celles existantes, il y a la documentation pour les traducteurs.

07 May 2009: Bugs with Ubuntu 9.04

Some users reported a problem when using GCstar 1.4.3 with Ubuntu 9.04. The application crashes when trying to change manually the image associated to an item in a collection. Just hovering the mouse on that image could also lead to that problem.

There is a fix that can be used before the new version is available. More information in that post:

GCstar's team wishes you a very happy new year.

There was a few developments these days because of the holidays. But next year will see a lot of new features added to this application. And we hope it will always correspond to what users need.

14 October 2008: New version of the Windows installer for 1.4.3

There was a bug in the Windows version that could prevent it from launching on some systems. The installation program has been updated. So please download it again if you have some issues. Here is the direct link to it:

13 October 2008: GCweb 1.0-beta1 is out

GCweb is a web interface created by jojotux to display the content of your collection generated thanks to GCstar in a web browser. This requires a web server with PHP5, but you will have then some features such as searching, sorting, filtering,...

For the moment, it is only available in french. But I am quite sure that translators (and any kind of contributors) are welcome. You will find more information in this topic:

  • Improved performances for plugins fetching data from websites.
  • Discogs plugin (Music - EN) supports searches using artist or label.
  • Shortcuts can also be defined on saved searches.

Thanks to kim, Dutch translation has been added. It is in SVN version. But it is also available through updates for 1.4.2 version.

Here are the main changes contained in this version.

  • More plugins use big pictures if option is checked (Thanks to adiGuba)
  • Import identifier and media labels from movies collections created with Ant Movie Catalog
  • New plugins to fetch informat ion from websites: nooSFere (Books - FR) and TheLegacy (Video games - DE) provided by TPF
  • Rating was sometimes lost when displayed with stars
  • Problems fixed with command line
  • Title in the list was incorrect for some collections when modifying many items together
  • Title when opening items in windows was not updated

26 July 2008: Test script updated to use Subversion

There is a script you can use to test any version of GCstar without installing it. You can also use it to test development version. Its name is testgcstar. It can be found on this page, with more information about it:

If you already are using it, please download it again as GCstar's source code has been migrated from CVS to Subversion. Then you need the new script to get the development snapshots.

20 July 2008: Version 1.4.1 released

Here are the main changes contained in this version.

  • New plugin to import collections from MyMovies done by Rob Maas.
  • Missing translations added for Greek and Polish.
  • Music collections were corrupted.
  • Export plugins had problems with pictures without suffixes.
  • Option to fetch big pictures from websites was hidden on Windows systems.
  • Bug fixed in image mode when updating an item and filtering.

10 May 2008: New installer for Windows' users

The new Windows version announced here has now a real installer. I created one for the current CVS version. So you should not use it with your actual collections as it can be unstable. You can download it here:

As a reminder, users of other operating systems can also try the future versions using instructions to test beta or CVS versions.

23 April 2008: Greek translation added

Thanks to Dimitri Glentadakis, Greek translation has been added. It is in CVS version. But it is also available through updates for 1.3.2 version.
